Meet the Staff
Carrie - Practice Manager / Hospital Administrator
Carrie has been working at both hospitals since November 1993. She has been receptionist, technician, and now our Practice Manager. She has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years.
"I started out as a kennel assist and worked very hard to be in the position I am today. I love my job and wouldn't change it for the world. I love challenges and every day presents us new ones. I am currently working on my Veterinary Practice Manager certification."
Carrie is a member of VHMA. She is married and has a daughter. She also has a Lab at home named Boston. In her spare time she likes to play with her 3 yr old, go camping, and go 4-wheeling.
Kayrine - Senior Vet Assistant
Kayrine has been with our practice since Oct 05. She received her veterinary assistant certificate through PIMA. Kayrine has a son and 2 daughters, a Bullmastiff named Avak & a Cane Corso Mastiff named Avina. In her spare time, she and her boyfriend,Baker, like to go camping, ride ATV's, and go hunting.

Shannon - Vet Assistant / Relations Manager
Shannon received her Veterinary Assistant Certificate through PIMA in 2008. She has been with our practice for over 3 years and is a wonderful asset! Shannon & her boyfriend, Jarrett, have 3 cats & 2 dogs.
Medical Interests:
Dental, abdominal exploratory, ACL and FHO's. "Anything I get to scrub in for. Anything out of the ordinary."
Ashley - CVT/Chief Technician/Manager
Ashley is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She became registered in 08. She started with our practice in Jan 09. She and her husband, Kevin, have a dog named Fumble. Ashley got married in April 2010. Ashley and her husband just had their first child, a girl, this summer! Ashley is a Green Bay Packers fan and loves Sunday night football!

Matt - Vet Assistant/Kennel Manager
Matt has been with our practice since July 09. He graduated from the Vet Assistant Program at PIMA. In his spare time, Matt likes to skateboard and paint. He & his girlfriend, Jess, have two dogs, one with Ehrlichia.

"Pharmacology (antibiotics rule!)" Tick-borne diseases.
Katie - Kennel Assistant
Katie is our kennel assistant. She has a very soft demeanor so the animals respond well to her. Katie is married and is in her 2nd year at UNM. She is studying pre vet. Katie and her husband, Charles, have 1 dog named Falco. In her spare time, Katie likes to play games and take road trips. She also has a love for art.
Ashley - Vet Assistant
Ashley just moved here with her husband from Indiana. Her husband is stationed here at Kirtland - he is in the Air Force. They have 1 dog and 1 cat.
Medical Interests:
"ADR (Ain't Doin' Right) Cases. New Puppies and kittens and rescues."
Lily - RVT
Lily is a recent graduate of CNM as a registered veterinary technician! Lily is super sweet and loves animals. She & her boyfriend, Scott, have 3 cats - Fuega, Frank, & Flo.
Medical Interests:
Surgery, emergency medicine, animal welfare and activism.
Jared - Kennel Assistant
Jared is new to our family! He is currently getting a degree from UNM in Mathematics & is not sure what he wants to do when he grows up :) He is wonderful with the animals and we are happy to have him here!
Audriana - Vet Assistant
Audriana has been a part of our staff since last fall. She participated in the CEC program through Sandia High School in the pre vet program. She is now a veterinary assistant. She will be attending CNM in the fall. She will be enrolling in the Vet Tech program there.
Medical Interests:
She likes major surgeries - ACL repairs, fracture repairs, etc. She also enjoys Dentistry
Danielle - Receptionist
Danielle is a two time PIMA Graduate in 2010 as a Certified Vet Assistant and in 2011 as a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. She is very close with her family and that is what she enjoys doing in her spare time is spending time with them. She has 1 nephew who is 4 and she has a God Daughter on the way! She loves school & she can't wait to work toward a Master's Degree in Education or Healthcare Management.

Anything unsual, blood draws, exotics, and farm animals
Shene - Vet Assistant
Shene Gwash is married to Kyle Gwash and they have an adorable son named Gabriel. They share their home with their "great joys" Oreo and Icarus. Oreo is an American Bulldog and Icarus is a lab/shepard mix. They recently added a new member to the family, a cat named "Little Man".

Shene is thinking of pursuing a career as a Veterinarian.
